Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 22, 2026 · Version française

FitSpotd is an app in development that identifies clothing from photos. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website (fitspotd.com) and its waitlist, why, and what choices you have. We will publish an updated policy covering the app itself before it launches.

Our principles

  • We only ask for what we need. Today, that's your email address.
  • Your information is used to run FitSpotd, never sold, and never used for advertising.
  • We explain things in plain language and keep this page up to date.

What this policy covers

This policy covers fitspotd.com and its waitlist. It doesn't cover other websites we link to, or social media platforms where you might interact with FitSpotd; their own policies apply there.

Who is responsible

FitSpotd, based in Quebec, Canada, is responsible for the personal information described here. The person in charge of the protection of personal information is FitSpotd's founder, who you can reach at [email protected].

What we collect

  • If you join the waitlist: your email address, the date and time you signed up, the wording of the consent you gave, the language of the page, and the website you signed up on.
  • If you email us: your email address and what you write to us.
  • Technical information: like most websites, our hosting provider automatically processes basic technical data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.

This website does not use cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and it does not load fonts or scripts from other companies.

Why we use it

  • To email you about FitSpotd's launch and early access, if you agreed to it.
  • To keep a record of your consent, as the law requires.
  • To answer your messages and requests.
  • To run the website and keep it secure.

We will only use your information for these purposes, unless you agree to something else or the law requires it. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers that help us run FitSpotd, and only as needed for their service:

  • a database provider that stores the waitlist;
  • a web hosting and security provider that delivers and protects this website and forwards emails sent to [email protected];
  • an email provider where messages to [email protected] are received;
  • an email-sending service, if we send launch emails.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it.

If FitSpotd is reorganized, merged or sold, the waitlist may be transferred to the new owner, who must keep protecting it as this policy describes. We will tell you before that happens.

Where it's stored

The waitlist is stored in the United States (Virginia). Our other service providers may also store or process your information outside Quebec and Canada, including in the United States. Information stored abroad may be subject to the laws of that country. We choose providers that protect personal information with security measures appropriate to its sensitivity.

How long we keep it

We keep your waitlist information until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or until we no longer need it for the purposes above, for example if the waitlist ends. Then we delete it. We keep a record of your consent (your email, the date and the wording you agreed to) for up to three years after you unsubscribe, so we can prove it if asked.

Your choices and rights

  • Unsubscribe: every email we send includes a way to unsubscribe. You can also email [email protected] and we'll remove you.
  • Access, correction and deletion: you can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted, ask us to limit how we use it, and withdraw your consent at any time.
  • No automated decisions: we don't make decisions about you based only on automated processing.
  • Questions and complaints: email [email protected] with any request or complaint about how we handle your information. The person in charge of the protection of personal information will look into it and answer you in writing.
  • We will answer within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first.
  • If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Children

The waitlist is for people 13 and older (14 and older in Quebec, Canada). If you believe a child under that age has signed up, contact us and we will delete their information.

Security

We use reasonable security measures. For example, the website can add an email to the waitlist but cannot read the list, and access to the list is limited to FitSpotd. If a privacy incident presents a risk of serious injury, we will notify the people affected and the authorities as the law requires.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

This website doesn't track you across websites and has no tracking to turn off, so "Do Not Track" and Global Privacy Control signals don't change anything here. We don't sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.

If you live in the United States

We don't sell or "share" personal information as those terms are defined in U.S. state privacy laws such as California's. Wherever you live, you can ask to access or delete your information as described above, and we won't treat you differently for doing so. Send any privacy request, including a request under Nevada law not to have your information sold, to [email protected].

Where FitSpotd is available

FitSpotd is currently offered only in Canada and the United States. The waitlist is meant for people who live there, and the app will only be available in those two countries when it launches. If we expand to other countries, we will update this policy first.

The app (when it launches)

Our plan for photos: faces are blurred automatically before a photo is sent for analysis. The photo is deleted from our systems as soon as the item is found; we don't store your photos, and we keep only the result (which product it was). Service providers that analyze photos for us may keep them for a limited time under their own terms; the app's privacy policy will describe them. Before any of that, an automatic check on our own server refuses photos that don't show clothing or that appear explicit; refused photos aren't sent to anyone, and we keep only a record of the refusal (time, account and reason), never the photo. The app's privacy policy will describe this in full before launch.

Face blurring depends on automatic face detection, which can miss a face, for example one that is small, partly hidden, turned away or poorly lit. A face that isn't detected isn't blurred before the photo is analyzed. For extra privacy, crop out or cover faces before sharing a photo, and only share photos of other people if you have the right to.
